Eqqy Designs has moved offices!
Continuing from my last post, we have exciting news to share with you! We have officially found a new office and have moved in as of March, 2008.

Though we have yet to update our websites Press Releases, we have spent a great amount of time working on some new web contracts and updates.

I Saw Ewe! (Formerly known as Wink Street)
Previously, I mentioned that we had obtained a contract to create a website called Wink Street.
However, with a lot of hard work and dedication, we have come up and developed a final version of I Saw Ewe, a new concept of meeting people online.
I Saw Ewe is a “missed connections” concept where if you were to brush by someone while walking down the street, or if you briefly met someone at Starbucks, you will have this second opportunity to make that connection via ISawEwe.com!

Eqqy Designs Recent Updates Part I
New Year, New Beginning, New Expansions
This year has turned out to be an exceptional year to date with the potential for expanding our company and business overall. With a long list of updates and exciting news, I will be splitting this blog entry into two parts beginning with part I.

Our main task was to create a layout design that was custom designed tailored towards Ehsan’s vision. We incorporated an existing logo design into the template of his website while maintaining and developing a new brand identity in one shot.
HIs website includes the ability to view all of his current listings as well as many other interactive features.
World’s Best Athlete
Recent Launch in February, 2008:
Though not related to painting, this is just one of Rick Anderson’s heartly entrepreneurial spirit at its best! An organization catered towards people of all ages to participate in healthy sporting events while giving back to the community.

In Absence of Blogging
While I was away from blogging, there are some new exciting announcements to be made. One of them being that we were able to purchase some products using USD while our CAD was still strong.
However, considering that our dollar is near par, we no longer have the luxury of spending some extra cash for upgrades.

Mouth Watering Falafel’s - Best Falafel Inc.

I can’t express enough how good their falafel’s taste and not only because they are our clients, but it’s by far one of my personal favorites. Their humous sauce is unique with the combination of their tender juicy chicken wrap or beef, it’s purely delicious for a very reasonable price!

Canadian Dollar Continues to Soar
Canadian Dollar Continues to Soar..
Our Canadian government apparently predicted a few months back that our Canadian dollar will most UNLIKELY meet in the middle with our neighbouring greenbacks, however, we see our Canadian dollar rise to the top reaching as high as 1:1.05 or 95 cents for those of you whom are half full or half empty.
Great for shoppers, horrible for manufactures and retail in Canada.
Retail stores would be hit with a huge potential loss if this continues through Christmas, but the other half of me asks for it to continue so we can all shop more down south.
Eqqy Designs and New Contracts
There is a reason for the lack of blogging in the recent months. We have been extremely busy closing and signing new contracts. Below are a few of our new clients:

I’ve had the pleasure to meet a very enthusiastic and smart entrepreneur, Rick Anderson from Vancouver’s Best Painters. During our first meet, he asked us for an initiation in which he took us into a room with a ping pong table and an auto-feeder.
The machine fed and shot out at least (I swear) 25-30 balls in a 15 seconds time frame which I, of course, missed every single one of them, sadly. Before we were even hired, we were fired, right Rick?
Most interesting meeting I’d ever had, but great guy to spend time with and luckily he had a nice heart to hire us even though I failed the initiation!
We’re going to be creating a blog on Vancouver’s Best Painters, as well as develop a new website from scratch called for 604-PAINTER with an addition of a blog as well, check back soon for more updates on his site!
GIMP 2.4 Released!
For those of you who are Linux/Unix fans, GIMP 2.4 is released after a 3-year hiatus. Visit http://www.gimp.org/ to download their newest version!
And for those who don’t know what GIMP is, think of it as the equivalency of Photoshop, except it’s for Linux and best of all, it’s FREE.

Hot Canadian Dollar
Canadian Dollar Ends Just Below USD Parity
Today was definitely a see-saw day on the markets for the loonie today.
It opened at parity with the U.S. greenback Friday morning, but dropped to 99.76 cents U.S., went back above the US$1 mark, before finally closing at 99.91 cents U.S.
Despite the decline in retail sales, the loonie was able to rebound. But the strong dollar (yesterday, it reached parity with the U.S. dollar for the first time since 1976) may not necessarily be good news for every sector of the economy.
So does this mean that we’re now awaiting a recession in the manufacturing sector? This definitely does not help with our tourism industry but the government continues to dismiss this and expresses that our economy is healthy and standing strong.
Nonetheless, we hope that everyone enjoys their shopping down in the States this weekend!

In the past week, we’ve completed one of our favorite websites for a dental clinic based in Coquitlam called Como Lake Dental.
Dr. Jim Chen was a great person to work with and it was a privilege for us at Eqqy Designs to be able to work with him.

New Contracts
So while we’re busy going abouts our way in the web industry, we’ve come across a local restaurant whom’s looking for a web presence. So gladly, we went for a chit chat, had our meeting and a new contract is born.
We’ll release more information in the upcoming weeks in regards to what type of restaurant and where it is located, but for now, I can tell you that their food was definitely delicious!

With the new release of Microsoft Windows Vista, we now have a leaked version of WindowsRG, the next latest and greatest version of Windows.
